Mobility in Banská Bystrica – June 20 – Thursday

Our day began with a delicious breakfast buffet, fuelling us up for the exciting activities ahead. First of them was a hiking tour back to Tatranská Lomnica, to the Tatra Mountain Museum, where we delved into the pressing issue of climate change and its unique impact on the mountain ecosystem. Thanks to the theoretical input in the presentation by Mr. Fleischer and his son, we learned that rising temperatures are just one aspect of a complex challenge. In the final knowledge test, many of us did very well and deserved a certificate of completion. Next, we embarked on a journey to a beaver-created lake with Mr. Igor Stavný (Department of Environmental Education) and Mr. Juraj Ksiažek (National park ranger, Security Service Department). Foresters shared their expertise, revealing the fascinating lives of these industrious creatures and their role in shaping the natural environment. While we didn’t spot any live beavers, the knowledge we gained was a valuable reward. Our exploration continued in Starý Smokovec, a charming mountain town. Here, we had free time to explore the area and savour a delicious lunch from a variety of menu options.
