Mobility in Cerklje 2025 – Monday

Our first official day in Slovenia began early at the primary school Osnovna šola Davorina Jenka in Cerklje na Gorenjskem. The German, Slovak and Slovenian students met in the auditorium, where the headmaster Boštjan Mohorič welcomed all mobility participants. The programme included traditional Slovenian dances, music and the national anthems of all three countries. It was a very impressive and enjoyable start to our Erasmus exchange.

Despite waking up at 6 a.m. and feeling a bit tired, we dove into the day’s activities. We started the day with presentations about the partner countries and cities, but especially about the climate change issues in our regions and the actions we are taking in our small school communities to at least partially mitigate the effects of climate change. It was interesting to compare how different countries approach this topic.

We then took part in a town exploration activity using the “Actionbound” app. Although the app had its challenges, it helped us learn about the local history in a funny and interactive way. A teacher won the competition, which caught us by surprise—but all in a good mood 😉

After lunch in the school cafeteria (where we learned we had to clean our own trays!), we joined an art class focused on the theme of Art in Times of Climate Change. We painted beehives—a creative and symbolic way to express the environmental message of the day. Let’s just say our painting skills varied, but the experience was fun and meaningful.

Later in the evening, we relaxed with our host students and their friends by going bowling. We had a great time, even learned a Slovenian word (which we immediately forgot), and shared some popcorn.
