In the morning, Mrs. Felber, the headmistress of Jakob-Fugger-Gymnasium (JFG), delivered a welcome speech and introduced the school also by showing the JFG image film. Later the exchange students visited French, English, science, and biology classes. It was an enlightening experience for them to come acquainted with the German school system and learning methods. For lunch, we had “Spätzle mit Gulasch’ and drinks at the school cafeteria. Everyone enjoyed the typical Bavarian meal.
At 1 p.m. we visited the city hall and its most magnificent room, ‘Goldener Saal’. Ralf Bendel from the environmental office welcomed us and shared some interesting facts about climate change in Germany and how the city of Augsburg tries to deal with the problems.
Following this, we used the ‘Actionbound’ app for a city tour, which was inspiring for everyone. The students explored the downtown and old town areas in mixed groups of four, consisting of German, French and Slovakian members.
In the afternoon bowling was on the agenda. We played several games in groups of four to eight people from different countries. The event was enjoyable and allowed everybody to get to know each other better. Later, the German students returned home with their exchange partners, had dinner, and went to bed early to prepare for the next day.
