The next day at JFG started with a scientifical input by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Buermann from the University of Augsburg. His presentation painted a stark picture of the future of our climate, both globally and regionally. As CO2 levels continue to rise and temperatures climb, we face a future of more extreme weather events, shifting rainfall patterns, and the degradation of ice cover. While the future is uncertain, the message is clear: without significant action, the warming we are witnessing today is just the beginning. If we really want to understand what is happening around us, to be able to perceive climate change and its manifestations, we need not only a theoretical basis and information, but above all to get to know the topic practically.
That is why the teachers prepared several stations where the students could work in international teams to deepen their knowledge and practice their skills on the topic in different ways. So they did, with Alps puzzles and games, scientific experiments about the effect of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, while working with data and talking about climate change from the ethical perspective.
In the afternoon, we were invited to the public library to an official welcome of the city of Augsburg and meeting with Mr. Udo Legner, spokesperson for One World and Europe. After all this work we earned a nice evening, and went to City Bowling in multinational groups and had dinner there. In the end it was a nice and very productive day with a cool ending.
